Case Study: Witney Mills Cricket Club
We’re delighted to share the recent successful completion of a brand-new cricket practice facility at Witney Mills Cricket Club, expertly installed by our South Licensee, Slatter Cricket and Play.
The project provides the club with a dual-lane practice area featuring our ECB-approved Envelope System, offering a true-to-play, low-maintenance surface that replicates the best characteristics of natural turf. The full-width nets are already proving their worth, giving players of all ages and abilities a consistent, reliable space to train and develop their skills.
This project has been several years in the making. Over a three-year period, Slatter Cricket and Play worked closely with the club to assess three potential locations, carrying out feasibility studies, design development and cost planning before settling on the final site at The Mills.
The location posed several challenges — from restricted access to the presence of delicate dry stone boundary walls — but the team’s careful planning and attention to detail ensured a seamless installation that complements the ground’s surroundings without impacting its layout or charm.
Alex Bennett, Director at Slatter Cricket and Play, said: “Over three years, we explored three potential locations, carrying out feasibility studies, designs, and cost estimates to help the club choose the best fit. Construction was a careful operation, with tight access, delicate stone walls, and limited space to work within — all without compromising the boundary wall or dimensions of the cricket field. The club were a joy to work with: fully engaged from start to finish, making the whole process smooth and efficient.”
As an ECB Clubmark-accredited club, Witney Mills continues to set high standards in coaching, community engagement and club management. With their new practice nets now in full use, the club is well equipped to keep developing cricketers at every level.
We’re proud to see another successful installation helping to support the growth of grassroots cricket — and we look forward to seeing many great performances from Witney Mills in the seasons ahead.
