Hailsham Academy – Hockey Pitch Supplied by Notts Sport
At Notts Sport, we are proud to supply sports surfaces that not only raise the standard of play but also bring lasting value to schools and communities. One of our latest projects has been at Hailsham Academy in East Sussex, where we resurfaced their hockey pitch which has already transformed opportunities for students and the wider community.
The previous pitch had served the college and local hockey club well for over 20 years but was ready for renewal. Working in partnership with Hailsham Hockey Club, Hailsham Town Council and Wealden District Council, the college set out to secure a modern facility that would safeguard the future of hockey in the district while continuing to support school sport and wider community use.
The project was made possible thanks to a collaborative funding effort. Wealden District Council contributed up to £216,406 through Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) monies, while further contributions came from Sport England, the academy, the hockey club, Hailsham Town Council and local fundraising efforts. In total, the works represented an investment of £291,406. As part of the upgrade, the sand-based artificial grass pitch was replaced with a new, competition-quality hockey surface S-Tec Integration by Lano.
We were proud to supply the new surface, with installation carried out to the highest standard by our trusted partners at Bernhards Sports Surfaces. The project was officially opened in September 2025, when the Mayor of Hailsham struck the first ball to mark the start of the new hockey season. Since then, the pitch has become a hub of activity, with Hailsham Hockey Club, local schools and community groups all making use of the outstanding new facility, supported by the addition of improved floodlighting for evening and winter play.
