The Jack Patrick Memorial Cup 2024

Notts Sport proudly hosted the 8th Charity Cricket Day in memory of the late Jack Patrick, in collaboration with Help for Heroes, a charity dedicated to supporting wounded veterans and their families.

Held on Friday, June 14th, the event honoured Jack Patrick, a passionate cricket enthusiast and devoted supporter of Help for Heroes. The tournament took place at Lutterworth Cricket Club and featured teams from Notts Sport, Help for Heroes, Jack's friends, and Lutterworth Cricket Club. The day was marked by sportsmanship, camaraderie, and exceptional cricket, culminating in Jack's Team winning the prestigious JP Cup.

All proceeds from the event, including those from a raffle, auction, game stalls, and food outlets, were donated to Help for Heroes. Notts Sport's Chairman, Shaun Patrick, was the standout fundraiser. He grew his hair for most of the year, then dyed it orange and got a perm weeks before shaving it off in the evening. Shaun, a devoted Leicester City Football fan, wore a Nottingham Forest shirt for the day after reaching £3,000 on Just Giving. His efforts alone went on to raise over £5,500.

Despite the threatening weather, the cricket club enjoyed sunshine until the last announcement at 8:30 PM, when it began to rain. The unwavering spirit of the Lutterworth community shone through, with their active participation and generous donations contributing to the impressive total of £12,500 raised for the charity.

"We are deeply honoured to host this annual charity cricket day in memory of my son Jack," said Shaun Patrick, Chairman of Notts Sport. "Jack's passion for cricket and dedication to supporting our veterans inspire us daily. The Lutterworth community astounds us each year with their generosity; without them, the day would not be a success. I must also express my gratitude to all the generous local and further afield companies who donated many incredible prizes. By partnering with Help for Heroes, we hope to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who have sacrificed so much for our country."

Help for Heroes, a charity renowned for its relentless efforts, provides comprehensive support to wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and their families. The funds raised from the Charity Cricket Day will support various vital services, including physical and mental health care, career assistance, and welfare support, underscoring the urgent need for ongoing support.
