Case Study: English martyrs catholic high school, hartlepool
We’re delighted to share the completion of our latest sports facility project — the resurfacing of the hockey pitch at English Martyrs Catholic High School in Hartlepool, part of the Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust.
The existing sand-filled surface had reached the end of its useable life, so the Trust looked to us for support in creating a modern, high-performance replacement. Following surveys carried out in partnership with England Hockey, Hartlepool Caledonians, and Billingham Hockey Club, we were appointed to design and supply the new system.
The new pitch features a Polytan sand-dressed artificial grass, installed over a 15mm in-situ shockpad that meets Gen2 performance standards. This upgrade provides a first-class playing surface for hockey and other school sports, offering excellent performance and durability for both students and community users.
We worked closely with Thornton-Firkin LLP, who managed the project on behalf of the Trust, and ADSUM Sports Surfaces, who delivered the installation to our specifications. The project was completed in just six weeks and was fully funded by the Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust.
This scheme continues our strong relationship with the Trust, following our successful delivery of both a new build 3G artificial grass pitch and a multi-use games area at St Michael’s Catholic Academy in Billingham. It also marks our third collaboration with Thornton-Firkin LLP, after several successful projects together in Cumbria.
We’re incredibly proud of what’s been achieved at English Martyrs. To continue our partnership with Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust and to deliver another quality pitch which will enhance the school’s sporting provision and support local hockey clubs in continuing to grow participation in the sport.
